House Walk Through - Dulce Nevis

As you enter the property through the electric gates the house is nestled amongst tropical trees and plants and looks almost like a bungalow until you approach the wooden walkway (50’x 7’) that leads to the front door. From there it reveals a substantial sized house that spills out in front of you over three levels. The square footage is 9000 square feet of livable space.

Enter the house on the highest level through an oversized Oak front door. The floors are boarded with dark Brazilian Ebony wood. To your right you look down from the galleried entrance hall (28’ x 6.5’) to the living room below. To your left is the master bedroom suite (23’x 16.5’) with 17’ vaulted wooden ceiling with double aspect glass doors overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Within the master suite is a secure walk-in changing area/wardrobe leading to spacious bathroom (14’x 10’) with double Jacuzzi and large walk in shower. Glass doors lead to a further charming outdoor hot/cold shower area with large sink and mirror that is surrounded by palm trees for privacy.

Outside the master suite are 14' wide covered verandahs with stunning views of Mount Nevis and the Caribbean Sea beyond. A mixture of tiled and wooden walkways leads over a small bridge to a belvedere with hammock for lazing away the afternoon with a good book.

Exiting the master bedroom the stairs lead down to the living room (20’x 30’) on the second level. A large, airy, light and spacious space that features a 30' high vaulted wooden roof and surrounded with glass doors for optimal views of the pool and the sea. There is a wonderful "jungle garden" stocked with plants from the rain forest and walls made from the local stone.

Between the living room and the kitchen is a tiled communal “wet room” (18’x 6.5’) with toilet, sink, shower and pool changing area that is accessible from both the outside and inside of the house.

Continue through to the kitchen/dining area (25’x 25’) surrounded with cherry wood cabinets, dark speckled marble work surfaces, a central island with Dacor range, huge Subzero fridge/freezer, Bosch double oven, Whirlpool dishwasher and sinks with garbage disposals. To the back is a charming small stone walled garden that lets the sun pour into the kitchen from both front and back, depending on the time of day.

Walk outside the kitchen and there is space for an outdoor dining patio and covered 14' wide verandahs around the entire downstairs. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, dryer and double sink.

The two storied guest cottage has a double bedroom on each level both with en-suite shower, king sized bed, closet and covered verandah. The guest space is separated from main house by a discreet wall for privacy.

The pool has an infinity edge and is fully tiled with cobalt blue tiles and measures 25' x 40' with a depth of 7' in the deepest end. The pool is mainly warmed by the sun to a perfect 86 degrees but there is also a heat pump for cooler days, if needed

Continue down a small flight of stairs to the third level to the games room (25’x 20’) with full sized pool table, TV area as well as toilet, sink and shower. There is a storage area (20’x 8’), pool pump room (20’ x 6’) and a workshop (20’x 16’) beyond. This space could easily be converted to an extra bedroom or studio space.

The property has Hunter fans in every room inside and also on every verandah outside. There are walk in storage cupboards outside every room in the house and a hurricane protection system that can used to protect the entire house. There are two solar panels that supply ample hot water to both the main house and the guest cottage with electric immersion heaters for back up.

The property is wired with 2 telephone lines, Broadband internet service from two different providers, Dish Network satellite as well as cable TV. There is an automatic cut in diesel FG Wilson generator that powers the entire property should the electricity go down and it seamlessly connects until the island current has been restored.

The one and a half acre property has been designed to create a place of privacy and space set amongst all the beauty that Nevis has to offer. A beautiful and mature garden that has been lovingly tended and includes over 20 varieties of palm, as well as mahogany, Monkey Pod, mango, and lime trees, several varieties of unusual bamboo, frangipani, ixora, bird of paradise, homegrown orchids and many colours of bougainvillea to name a few.
